Plymouth literally throbbed with people, old fashioned events, color and fun Saturday as the usually quiet community opened its highways for Bicentennial activities.
Terryville's Ted Knight, Emmy winner and television personality, embraced the people and captured his home town's heart. Large crowds assembled along Main Street to cheer the national celebrity who remembered the little town of his boyhood. A hectic schedule, giving only time for brief rests, kept Knight going from Thursday to Sunday. He shook hands with longago classmates and it appeared he had not forgotten anyone from his earlier days in Terryville.
A town known for its community spirit dove headon into making its celebration of the 200th birthday of the nation a memorable one for local residents as well as outoftowners. It was an experience to be longremembered. The entire weekend demonstrated the meaning of home spun warmth.
