Testimonial for Ted Knight Draws Nationwide Requests

PLYMOUTH-More than 500 persons are expected to attend the June 12 dinner for former Terryville section resident and actor Ted Knight of the Mary Tyler Moore Show, Bicentennial Committee Chairman J. Francis Ryan said Friday.

"I wish I had 500 more tickets," Ryan said. People have been calling from across the country for tickets to the dinner honoring Knight who will be riding in the bicentennial parade earlier in the day, Ryan said.

Knight will arrive in town June 10 and spend the weekend at Jay's Motel, Ryan said. His schedule will include a visit to the Lock Museum of America at 10 a.m. June 10, and a day in Hartford doing radio and television interviews, Ryan said.

Parade

Knight will ride in the parade that is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. June 12, Ryan said. More than 30 floats and the Mattatuck Drum Corps, the oldest drum corps in the U.S., will be in the two­hour parade, he said.

After the parade, that will start at Harwinton Avenue and Main Street and go down to Riverside Avenue, will be former Terryville resident Maj. George Ford, commander of Company 1 of the Governor's Foot Guard, Ryan said. Ford will march with the Governor's Military Commission and attend the dinner with Knight.
